Action for community Development joined the rest of the World on 1st of December to mark the world AIDS day. A day dedicated to commemorate those who have passed on and also to create awareness about AIDS and HIV virus .It is a day set aside the world over to highlight the enormity of the AIDS pandemic and our responsibility to ensure treatment care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS.In line with the global World AIDS day theme for 2011-2015 “Getting to Zero” with focus on the 3 goals of Zero new infections, Zero AIDS related deaths, Nigeria her specific theme as ‘ RESOURCING THE NATIONAL RESPONSE TOWARDS GETTING TO ZERO AIDS RELATED DEATHS’. ACD with support from VIIV healthcare and Positive Action For Children Fund went to Evbuotubu Community to mark the day with the people in the community.this community also one of the communities were we are implementing our Improve Community Sex Safe and prevention of AIDS from parent to child (ICOSSAP). some of the activities to mark the day include rally, promotion and distribution of IEC materials,and re-echoing of abstinence, be faithful to one’s partner, condom use for those that need it and determining one’s status. There was also free HIV testing and counseling for the people.Blood pressure check was also conducted.
