COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE FIRST EDO STATE INTER-COMMUNITY DIALOGUE ON PEACE AND CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE FIRST EDO STATE INTER-COMMUNITY DIALOGUE ON PEACE AND CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION, ORGANISED BY

ACTION FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (ACD), ON THURSDAY, 18TH JUNE, 2015 AT ACD HALL, 32 MISSION ROAD, BENIN-CITY.

The meeting, which commenced at about 1:00pm, had in attendance Community Development Association Chairpersons and other members of various communities.

After deliberations, the following decisions were agreed upon as contained in the communique.

  • That youths be enlightened on good mannerism and the need to embrace peace dialogues.
  • That boundaries be properly marked out and identifiable.
  • That Youths of communities should be empowered in order to channel their strengths positively.
  • That thugs should not be used by, or allowed into communities.
  • That Cravings and tussle for power be de-emphasized.
  • That Community funds should not be diverted.
  • That people be regularly sensitised on the importance of peace and peace talks.
  • That Communities come together, periodically, to brainstorm on developmental strides and ways to foster peaceful coexistence.
  • That mutual understanding and partnership be created between neighbouring communities.
  • That Communities develop a good formula for sharing of land proceeds between the Enogie and CDA chairman.
  • That CDA leadership extend hand of fellowships with formidable and reliable NGOs.
  • That members have knowledge of Laws and Bye-laws of the land/ community they belong.
  • That communities work hand in hand with Security Agencies in the State or Local Government.
  • That cult activities be frowned at, due to the crimes they commit and evils they perpetrate.

Okhokhugbo Community representatives in ACD Hall to collect the school chairs donated to their Community school

On the 18th of June 2015, Action for Community Development (ACD) Organized  first Edo  State Inter-Community Dialogue on Peace and Conflict Transformation for Community Development Association(CDA) Chairmen & Youth Chairmen of Various Communities across Edo South Senatorial District. During the Peace Dialogue, representatives from Okhokugbo & Oghede Community made a plea to ACDS that their Community Secondary School lacked Chairs & Tables and  Action for Community Development came to their rescue immediately after the meeting by donating some chairs which they made tosupport community schools. The communities received the chairs onbehalf of their schools onMonday the 22nd of June 2015.
