COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE FIRST EDO STATE INTER-COMMUNITY DIALOGUE ON PEACE AND CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION, ORGANISED BY
ACTION FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (ACD), ON THURSDAY, 18TH JUNE, 2015 AT ACD HALL, 32 MISSION ROAD, BENIN-CITY.
The meeting, which commenced at about 1:00pm, had in attendance Community Development Association Chairpersons and other members of various communities.
After deliberations, the following decisions were agreed upon as contained in the communique.
- That youths be enlightened on good mannerism and the need to embrace peace dialogues.
- That boundaries be properly marked out and identifiable.
- That Youths of communities should be empowered in order to channel their strengths positively.
- That thugs should not be used by, or allowed into communities.
- That Cravings and tussle for power be de-emphasized.
- That Community funds should not be diverted.
- That people be regularly sensitised on the importance of peace and peace talks.
- That Communities come together, periodically, to brainstorm on developmental strides and ways to foster peaceful coexistence.
- That mutual understanding and partnership be created between neighbouring communities.
- That Communities develop a good formula for sharing of land proceeds between the Enogie and CDA chairman.
- That CDA leadership extend hand of fellowships with formidable and reliable NGOs.
- That members have knowledge of Laws and Bye-laws of the land/ community they belong.
- That communities work hand in hand with Security Agencies in the State or Local Government.
- That cult activities be frowned at, due to the crimes they commit and evils they perpetrate.
